Clinical Practice

Inpatient Services

Full-time faculty members of the Division of General Internal Medicine are the single largest group to admit patients to the general medicine service at UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore Hospitals, and they are one of the largest groups to admit patients to UPMC Shadyside Hospital. They are also responsible for most of the inpatient care offered by the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS). At each of these sites, patient care is provided in conjunction with the inpatient teaching service.

Outpatient Services

Division members offer outpatient services through UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore, UPMC Shadyside (Shea Medical Center), General Internal Medicine South, the VAPHS, Turtle Creek Primary Care Center, and the Progressive Evaluation & Referral Clinic (PERC). The division faculty have expertise in primary care, women’s health, sports medicine, and the management of common medical problems. They have gained national recognition in the management of diabetes, syncope, pneumonia, delirium, eating disorders, alcohol problems, and other mental health problems as they present in primary care.

Sites

The Division of General Internal Medicine provides clinical services at four separate sites to a diverse group of patients. The UPMC Presbyterian, Montefiore, and Shadyside sites provide care to the general population with general health concerns. Our VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) site serves those who have served us—veterans. The Program for Health Care to Underserved Populations clinics provide medical and pharmaceutical services at no cost to uninsured and medically indigent individuals.  READ MORE/VIEW SITES
