Clinician-Researcher Fellowship
Program Overview
Based in the Division of General Internal Medicine’s Center for Research on Health Care (CRHC), the Clinician-Research Fellowship has a long and successful track record of training clinician scientists and leaders in academic medicine. CHRC faculty and centers provide expertise in chronic health conditions, health equity, health policy, health technology, implementation science, medical decision-making, pharmacoepidemiology, real-world evidence, substance use disorders, veterans, and women’s health. Fellows also benefit from clinical and research affiliations with the Pittsburgh VA Center for Healthcare Evaluation, Research, and Promotion (CHERP) and the UPMC health system.
At the core of the program is the Master of Science in Clinical Research, offered through the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE). This rigorous degree program provides formal coursework in study design, biostatistics, epidemiology, and grant writing. Fellows also complete mentored research projects, prepare a full-length grant proposal suitable for submission (such as an NIH K23 award), and participate in teaching and clinical activities within the Division of General Internal Medicine.
