Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP)
The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at the University of Pittsburgh offers undergraduate students an intensive, 10-week, full-time research experience in the biomedical sciences. Designed to help aspiring scientists explore and prepare for careers in research, SURP serves as a bridge between undergraduate study and PhD training. Participants conduct independent projects under the mentorship of Pitt faculty, engage in educational sessions and professional development activities, and present their findings at the program’s conclusion. Sponsored by six graduate programs within the School of Medicine and supported by more than 200 training faculty, SURP provides a collaborative and immersive environment for students considering a future in biomedical research.
