R to R Program (ASPIRE)

Advancing Scientific Programs of Independently-funded Researchers, or ASPIRE, is a new funding initiative designed to support and elevate mid-career faculty research. ASPIRE nurtures the breadth and impact of DOM faculty research programs by targeting investigators who already hold R-level funding but have not yet secured multiple concurrent R-equivalent grants. Building on the success of the KARAT program, which assists early-career faculty transitioning from K to R awards, ASPIRE extends this support to the next stage of faculty growth.

Program Highlights

  • Funding: Each Scholar will receive up to $75,000 over two years to support a new line of R-level research
  • Mentorship: Scholars benefit from personalized guidance by a committee of senior DOM scientists
  • Programming: Focus on innovation, scientific leadership, and development of programmatic grant applications
