Support Our Work

Physicians and staff members within the Division of Renal-Electrolyte, including general consultative nephrology, renal transplantation, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis, are committed to advancing treatment through research and providing support. This care is underpinned by a dynamic research program focused on the study of kidney/epithelial cell structure and function in health or disease states; utilization of tools of physiology, cellular and molecular biology; biochemistry; cell signaling; genetics; clinical epidemiology; and innovative clinical trials based on population health management to facilitate equitable access to the latest evidence-based care. We are also committed to training the next generation of outstanding physicians and physician-scientists in renal medicine.

Help the Renal-Electrolyte Division Make a Difference

Your philanthropic support enables continued growth and discovery within the Renal-Electrolyte Division. Whether you choose to make your gift to advance research, support our physicians who are treating patients daily or provide funding for young physicians to advance their training as nephrologists, philanthropic gifts are the foundation of all we do. Our supporters are partners who help us envision new possibilities and continually improve treatment outcomes.

Areas of Greatest Need

These funds represent the programs most in need of philanthropic support. You can designate your gift to a specific program or to the General Fund.

General Fund for Division of Renal-Electrolyte

All donations to the division are important and welcomed. Unrestricted donations to the General Fund are especially essential because they provide the greatest flexibility of use. Your gift might be used for a current research study, to fund novel paths of discovery, to support the training of future pulmonary specialists or for continuing professional development of clinical staff.

The Jules B. Puschett Research Endowment

This research fund was founded in honor of the late Jules Bernard Puschett, former division chief. It aims to drive breakthroughs in kidney function, electrolyte balance and fluid dynamics. By supporting innovative investigations and therapeutic interventions, it improves outcomes for individuals with renal disorders.

Michael F. Michelis, MD, Scholars Fund

The Michelis Scholars Fund provides support for scholarly activity conducted by fellows or junior faculty in the Division of Renal-Electrolyte.

The Rebecca P. Hughey Fund to Support Renal-Electrolyte Faculty

The Rebecca P. Hughey Fund supports activities and amenities aimed at enhancing the morale and well-being of research-intensive faculty members, staff and trainees in the division. It also supports maintenance of a collegial and collaborative workplace and research climate that enables all faculty members to thrive, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or religion.

The Renal-Electrolyte Endowment for Clinical Excellence

This fund supports outstanding clinicians in the division in their pursuit of teaching, research, continued professional development and other scholarly activities.
