Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism (EDM) Research Seminar

1st and 3rd Wednesday of the Month, 1:00-2:00 pm
The EDM Research Seminar meets biweekly and features full-length presentations by research faculty and trainees in the Division of Endocrinology, as well as invited speakers from across the University of Pittsburgh and collaborating institutions. The series highlights innovative, cross-disciplinary work often showcasing emerging discoveries and paradigm-shifting research that shapes the future of endocrinology and metabolism.

University-Wide Conference (Endocrine Grand Rounds)

Fridays, 8:00-9:00 am
University-Wide Conference consists of lectures presented by external and internal speakers to expose faculty and trainees to cutting edge research and clinical care developments in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and to increase their basic science knowledge base.

Patient Care Conference

Fridays, 9:00-10:00 am
This conference is run by the fellows, and allows a review of clinical findings, presentation, discussion and interpretation of laboratory results, radiologic procedures, pathology slides, surgical results and treatment plans.

Bone Club Conference

1st Tuesday, 4:30-5:30 pm
The conference rotates between clinical case discussions involving difficult and interesting management and diagnosis issues, ongoing research program reviews, outside speakers, and fellow journal clubs.

Multidisciplinary Thyroid Cancer Conference

3rd Wednesday, 4:30-6:00 pm
A monthly multidisciplinary conference involving Radiology, General Surgery, ENT, Pathology, and Endocrinology. Each session focuses on a thyroid cancer topic, with discussion led by a presenter following a literature review.

Adrenal Conference

1st Wednesday, 5:00-6:00 pm
A multidisciplinary team of endocrinologists and endocrine surgeons collaborates to review and discuss complex adrenal disease cases. Fellows from both specialties present cases, fostering shared learning and coordinated patient care.

Pituitary Conference

2nd Thursday, 5:00-6:00 pm
A multidisciplinary group comprising of endocrinologists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, and neuropathologists reviews patients with hypothalamic and pituitary disease. The endocrinology fellow presents the cases followed by detailed discussion between trainees and the faculty.

Monthly literature reviews covering key developments in diabetes—from basic science to clinical trials.

Fellows Board Review Sessions

Weekly sessions focused on Endocrinology board preparation, emphasizing practical diagnostic and management topics under faculty guidance.

Obesity Journal Club

A monthly multidisciplinary review of current bariatric medicine literature, attended by providers across specialties.

Research in Progress

Monthly presentations of ongoing fellow research projects, with constructive feedback from divisional faculty.

Summer Lecture Series

An eight-week summer curriculum covering foundational topics in endocrine physiology, biochemistry, and disease mechanisms.

Thyroid Cytology Conference

A monthly review of complex thyroid cytology cases with the Pathology department, incorporating advanced molecular diagnostics.
