Communications and Marketing

The Department of Medicine (DOM) Communications Team provides strategic communications support for our department’s divisions and institutes.

We work closely with faculty and staff to showcase the department’s accomplishments across the tripartite mission. Our team collaborates with other communications offices across the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC for joint projects and major announcements.

While these reflect general areas of oversight, the DOM Communications and Marketing Team often collaborates on various projects, so please submit all requests to DOM-Media@pitt.edu.

Publication of News, Accomplishments, and Events

The DOM Communications team oversees the publication of news and accomplishments by DOM personnel on the DOM website, social media, digital signage, and Code Blue and Gold, the DOM’s quarterly newsletter.

Submit News, Accomplishments, and Events

Faculty, staff, and trainees should contact DOM-media@pitt.edu with any news, awards, and accomplishments to ensure your recent successes are highlighted across the DOM’s various channels.

Please include the following details in your message:

  • Name of the faculty member, staff member, student, fellow, resident, postdoc, etc., to be recognized
  • Brief synopsis of the accomplishment including as many specifics as possible (e.g., name of the award, publication title and journal, grant title and award number, etc.)
  • Any relevant photographs, graphics, or documents

The DOM Communications team will develop an appropriate approach to amplify your achievements and will follow up for any clarification needed.

NB: Awards or recognitions subject to a media embargo should be clearly indicated with the date when the embargo will be lifted in your correspondence.

Website Content Management

Content on the Department of Medicine, Aging Institute, and Vascular Medicine Institute (VMI) websites is managed by the DOM Communications team. The following types of routine requests should be submitted to domwebsite@pitt.edu:

  • Updates to existing webpages
  • Adding new content pages under an existing division or institute
  • Adding a calendar event to the DOM, Aging Institute, or VMI website

Photo, Video, and Recording Consent Forms

Consent forms are not required by the Chair’s Office for photographs or video recordings of University of Pittsburgh personnel taken during the normal course of their job duties. However, as a courtesy, employees should be verbally informed when they are being photographed or recorded.

For any other photographs or recordings with individuals outside the University of Pittsburgh, a photo release form should be completed and signed by all relevant parties.
