Myositis Fellowship

Program Overview

The Myositis Fellowship Training Program at UPMC builds on a long-standing tradition of academic excellence within the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology. Based in the UPMC Myositis Center, the program is dedicated to training the next generation of rheumatology leaders for impactful careers in academic medicine, industry, and clinical practice.

UPMC is among the few health systems in the United States to offer a dedicated Myositis Fellowship, providing an unparalleled opportunity for advanced, specialized training in myositis and related inflammatory muscle diseases. This program is categorized as non-standard training, as defined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Fellows benefit from mentorship by distinguished faculty and internationally recognized experts across the Division. The program also features strong collaborations with the Neuromuscular Diseases Section of the Department of Neurology, led by David Lacomis, MD, and the Simmons Center for Interstitial Lung Disease, led by Daniel J. Kass, MD.

Through diverse clinical experiences across multiple care settings, fellows develop expertise in the diagnosis and management of patients with a wide spectrum of myositis and associated rheumatic conditions.
