Fellows present articles with guidance from an assigned faculty mentor, who helps with article selection and preparation. With their mentor’s support, fellows critically review the paper, interpret data, and summarize key conclusions.

HIV Conference

Wednesdays, 12:00-1:00pm

This conference addresses core principles of HIV diagnosis and management while incorporating multidisciplinary discussions on the social, psychological, and reproductive health needs of patients. Sessions also cover coinfections, PrEP strategies, and complex cases through the “Genotype Conference,” where resistance challenges are reviewed.

ID Grand Rounds

ID Grand Rounds includes case discussions with literature review, research-in-progress presentations, and state-of-the-art lectures by invited experts. Each clinical service presents cases on a rotating basis, and national and international leaders in Infectious Diseases are frequently featured.

ID Core Curriculum Series

Fridays, 8:00-9:00am

This didactic lecture series prepares fellows for both clinical practice and the Infectious Diseases board exam. The summer curriculum focuses on first-year fellows, emphasizing common infections, antimicrobials, and microbiology.

Transplant ID Teleconference

Every other Friday, 12:30-1:30pm

Fellows participate in a case-based teleconference that brings together experts from UPMC, Cleveland Clinic, UNC, Mayo Clinic, and the University of São Paulo. Discussions highlight challenging infections in solid organ and bone marrow transplant patients.

Transplant ID Core Meeting

This series reviews the latest advances and management strategies for infections in solid organ and stem cell transplantation. Fellows gain exposure to emerging research and clinical approaches in this highly specialized area.
