Support Our Work

The mission of the Division of Geriatric Medicine is to enhance the health of older adults by conducting research to ensure tomorrow’s care will be better than today’s.

We are improving our systems of care through training programs and research—all while keeping our mission of enhancing the health of older adults at the forefront of everything we do.

Help the Division of Geriatric Medicine Make a Difference

Your philanthropic support ensures continued growth and discovery within the Division of Geriatric Medicine. Philanthropy lays the foundation for what we do. Our supporters are partners who help us envision new possibilities and improve treatment outcomes.

Areas of Greatest Need

These funds represent the programs most in need of philanthropic support.

Division of Geriatric Medicine Gift Fund

Unrestricted donations to this fund are essential because they provide the greatest flexibility of use. By making an unrestricted contribution to this fund, you allow us to direct the funding toward areas of greatest need and ensure we remain at the forefront of geriatric medicine.

Geriatric Medicine Academic Fund

To build upon the division’s success and make the greatest future impact, we turn our focus to recruiting trainees into our unique environment to make meaningful clinical advances and to teach and train the next generation of scientists and clinicians.

Geriatric Research and Education Fund

Transformational and innovative research is the key to discovering new and more effective treatments to enhance the health of older adults. This fund supports programs dedicated to research, education and advancement of knowledge and technology in the areas of geriatrics, gerontology and longevity.

Matching Gifts

Your gift may be increased if you work for a company with a matching gift program. Spouse and retiree gifts may also be matched. Please ask your employer for details.

All gifts—no matter the size—make a world of difference. Thank you for your consideration.

Endowed Funds

Endowed funds are named funds that provide a perpetual stream of income for a specific purpose or for students within a particular area. Whether these gifts are for scholarships, fellowships, faculty chairs or other important programs or services, they allow major gift donors to provide permanent support to the division. Minimum endowment levels guarantee that sufficient income will be available to fulfill the donor’s specific intentions.

Current Funds

Unlike endowed funds, current funds can be distributed in the same year they are received. They are a terrific alternative for those who might have excess funds available each year and ideal for annual IRA disbursements or lump-sum gifts.

Planned Giving

Planned giving options allow you to amplify the impact of your generosity to the University of Pittsburgh as well as to potentially create lifetime income streams and reduce your taxes. You can leave a legacy through bequests, retirement plans and life insurance.
