Small Molecule Therapeutics Center
The Center for Small Molecule Therapeutics (SMTC) was established in 2015 to advance the discovery and development of small-molecule therapies for pulmonary diseases such as ARDS, asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), COPD, and transplant rejection. The Center’s mission is to apply expertise in protein modeling, target validation, small-molecule screening, hit identification and optimization, and in vitro ADME studies, while also facilitating referrals to medicinal and synthetic chemistry resources within PACCSM and the Department of Medicine. By serving as a collaborative platform for investigators, the SMTC fosters interdisciplinary research with the ultimate goal of developing novel therapies that improve outcomes for patients with pulmonary disease.
