Combined Nephrology Fellowship Programs

The Renal-Electrolyte Division offers several combined nephrology fellowship programs designed to prepare physicians for leadership at the intersections of nephrology and other key disciplines. Each program integrates rigorous clinical training, mentorship, and scholarly development to equip fellows with the skills needed to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care and advance innovation in renal medicine.

Through partnerships with leading departments and divisions across UPMC, fellows may pursue dual training in Nephrology and Critical Care Medicine, Adult and Pediatric Nephrology, or Nephrology and Palliative Care. These innovative programs provide board eligibility in both specialties and cultivate deep, cross-disciplinary expertise, from managing critically ill patients with complex kidney disorders, to providing seamless care across the lifespan, to leading the growing field of kidney palliative care. Graduates emerge as compassionate clinicians, skilled educators, and academic leaders poised to transform nephrology practice and improve outcomes for patients across diverse care settings.
