Support Our Work

The physicians, scientists and staff of the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology are committed to providing the highest-quality care for patients with a wide spectrum of rheumatologic and auto¬immune conditions. Our faculty physicians not only treat patients but also provide consultation to primary care providers and other specialists. Many of our faculty physicians are nationally recognized experts in research and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, myositis, vasculitis, scleroderma, Sjögren syndrome and other conditions.

Help the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Make a Difference

Your philanthropic support ensures continued growth and discovery within the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology. Philanthropy provides an important foundation for what we do. Our supporters are partners who help us to envision new possibilities, develop new therapies and improve outcomes.

Areas of Greatest Need

The following funds represent the programs in most need of philanthropic support. You can designate your gift to a specific program or to the Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology General Fund.

Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology General Fund

All donations to the division are important and welcome. Unrestricted donations to the Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology General Fund are especially essential because they provide the greatest flexibility of use. Your gift might be used for a current research study, novel paths of discovery, training of future specialists, or continuing professional development of staff.

Arthritis Institute

Our core research mission is to better understand arthri¬tis, autoimmune diseases and other connective tissue diseases to improve diagnosis and treatment, with the ulti¬mate goal of finding ways to cure and prevent these dis¬orders. Your gift supports fundamental research that will lead to clinical trials of new therapies.

Lupus Center of Excellence

A robust lupus registry is the foundation for many of the important studies underway at the Lupus Center of Excellence. The registry allows for rigorous data collection and storage of tissue samples from patients, which are important for research of systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjögren syndrome and related conditions, including inflammatory eye disease.

Myositis Research Fund

For more than 30 years, the University of Pittsburgh Myositis Center has been a national leader in the study of inflammatory myopathy. We have one of the world’s largest clinical, longitudinal myositis databases, with more than 1,000 patient participants, representing polymyositis, adult dermatomyositis and overlap myositis disorders. Studies include innovative research of myositis related to interstitial lung disease and systemic rheumatic disease.

Scleroderma Research Fund

Long-term studies of systemic sclerosis and its complications, including skin fibrosis, Raynaud phenomenon, digital ulcers, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary arterial hypertension, are ongoing at the scleroderma research laboratories.

Vasculitis Research Fund

Vasculitis is characterized by inflammation of blood vessels. The University of Pittsburgh is one of 11 academic sites involved with the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium, funded by the National Institutes of Health. We offer innovative research studies for patients with these rare diseases.
