Scleroderma Center

Center Overview

The Scleroderma Center is dedicated to advancing care, education, and research for patients living with scleroderma and related conditions. Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary care that addresses the complex needs of each patient while fostering education and support for patients and their families. Through access to innovative clinical trials and novel therapies, the Center connects patients with emerging treatment options that offer new hope for improved outcomes.

In parallel with our clinical mission, the Center drives a robust research program spanning basic, translational, and clinical investigation. Faculty and trainees collaborate to uncover the causes and mechanisms of vascular dysfunction, fibrosis, and immune dysregulation in scleroderma, with the ultimate goal of discovering new therapeutic targets and, ultimately, a cure. Ongoing efforts to expand our team, recruit new faculty, and enhance research infrastructure strengthen our capacity for innovation and discovery.

The Center also serves as a hub for education and collaboration, hosting journal clubs, research symposia, and fellowship opportunities, and supporting trainees through travel awards and mentorship. Through these combined efforts, the UPMC Scleroderma Center continues to advance scientific understanding, improve patient care, and build a thriving academic community dedicated to conquering scleroderma.
