Trevejo-Nunez Laboratory
Giraldina J. Trevejo Núñez was born in Lima, Perú. She went to medical school at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. She did her residency in Internal Medicine, followed by fellowship in Infectious Diseases. Giraldina became very interested in science during her fellowship, which she pursued by doing a post-doctoral training at University of Pittsburgh. She currently is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. The focus of her current research is how the host-immune responds against bacterial pathogens in the lung. Particularly, how the host modulates inflammation for survival by modulating cytokines signaling through RNA binding proteins.
