Infectious Diseases Outreach
Center for Infectious Disease Outreach (CIDO)
The Center for Infectious Disease Outreach (CIDO) was created to increase the visibility of the Division of Infectious Diseases’ missions in clinical care, research, and education. We highlight our activities and accomplishments through social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube), podcasts, and the Infectious Diseases division website. CIDO also shares timely, reliable, and unbiased information on current topics in infectious diseases to educate the public while recognizing and showcasing the division’s achievements.
Podcast – Microbe Matters
CIDO produces the podcast Microbe Matters, where infectious disease experts from UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh explore timely topics in the field. Each episode examines the microbes that shape our world—highlighting both their risks and benefits—while promoting public health and showcasing advances in research, prevention, and treatment.
