We are very pleased to announce the appointment of David A. Nace, MD, MPH, Professor of Medicine, to the position of Chief, Division of Geriatric Medicine, effective November 1, 2023. Dr. Nace is a distinguished member of the faculty in the Division of Geriatric Medicine, with a remarkable track record of achievements spanning research, teaching, patient care, and leadership. He obtained his MD degree from Temple University in 1990, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine in 1993 and a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine in 1995, both at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Concurrently, he earned a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.

Dr. Nace is an innovative and highly acclaimed clinician-leader with a remarkable leadership record. He has skillfully led the Division of Geriatric Medicine since September 2022 when he was appointed Interim Chief. He continues to use his expertise to advance the fields of Geriatric Medicine and Post-Acute and Long-term Care. He has an extensive record of service on behalf of UPMC, serving on multiple regional, state, and national committees and boards and has received two ACES Awards. His research which focuses heavily on dissemination and implementation, continues to impact national policy by advancing quality, vaccination policy, antimicrobial stewardship, nursing home regulations, and physician payment.  He played a crucial role to protect nursing home residents during the pandemic. He epitomizes a true clinician-leader.

We are delighted to appoint Dr. Nace as Division Chief of Geriatric Medicine, and his experience and leadership as a researcher, educator, clinician, and administrator will help take the Division to a new level of excellence.
