We are pleased to announce that Sowmya Nanjappa, MBBS, MD, FACP, has received the Infectious Diseases Society of America’s Fellow designation (FIDSA). IDSA Fellows are individuals recognized for having achieved professional excellence and for providing significant service to the profession. Sowmya has achieved these goals during her 7 years as a member of the IDSA.

Sowmya joined the ID division in 2018 at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor relocating to Pittsburgh from Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Sowmya works with the general and surgical ID team. Her primary research interest focuses on optimal use of antibiotics in clinical infectious disease. She has a special interest in endemic fungal infections and infections in oncologic patients.
