We are pleased to announce the appointment of Shihui Liu, MD, PhD, to the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. Shihui joined the Division of Infectious Diseases in June 2018 as a Visiting Associate Professor. His laboratory and office spaces are located within the Aging Institute at Bridgeside Point.
Shihui’s research focuses on investigating the pathogenesis of anthrax toxins and other bacterial protein toxins, and developing therapeutics, and, developing potent, highly tumor-selective bacterial toxin-based reagents for tumor targeting. He seeks to develop potent and highly tumor-selective mitogen-activated extracellular signal-regulated kinase (MEK) and RAS inactivators by engineering the anthrax toxin protein delivery system. These studies will unambiguously determine the roles of each tumor stromal cell-type in tumor development and in tumor targeting. The results will also provide insights into the anti-tumor mechanisms of the currently clinically used small molecule MEK inhibitors as well as RAS inhibitors to be developed in the future.
Please join us in congratulating Shihui!
