Season 2 of our podcast, “Microbe Matters,” returns with an all-new season of bugs, drugs, and more! The show is a bite-sized conversation where faculty, staff, and others are interviewed about current topics in infectious diseases research and clinical practice. This season, we explore the various roles vaccines play in infection prevention, travel health, socio-political movements, and therapeutic treatments.

We’re kicking off Season 2 by introducing Elise Martin, MD, MS, Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, and, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. In this episode, we discuss how vaccines work, who should receive them, and how vaccines play a crucial role in preventing the spread of infections in healthcare and related environments.
