Dr. Zupetic received an Excellence in Collaborative Teaching Award and analyzed data from the Severe Asthma Research Program (SARP) to examine if depression confounds the association between obesity and asthma control. She moved to the bench during residency and studied host-pathogen interactions in a murine model of Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia and how thrombospondin-1 regulates P. aeruginosa exoprotease and elastase activity. During fellowship, she plans to continue working on the characterization of pseudomonal exoprotease and elastase activity using clinical isolates from patients with P. aeruginosa pneumonia in the ICU.
