Bio

Dr. Christopher Franz graduated from the State of University of New Jersey in 2011 with a B.A in Cell Biology & Neuroscience.  Dr. Franz continued his education at New York Medical College, completing his M.D. in 2015.  During this time he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and the Mount Sinai Professionalism Committee.  He also volunteered mentoring and tutoring incoming interns and applicants at both Universities.  Dr. Franz In his spare time Dr. Franz is very active in athletics and enjoys cooking, audiobooks, photography, and astronomy.

Research Interests

Dr Franz current research focuses on the consequences of smoke and particulate matter exposure on human health and disease.  He also has experiences in in GRAPHS (Ghana Randomized Air Pollution and Health Study) to help define the impact of Household Air Pollution on the human microbiome and its relation to the development of pneumonia. Dr. Franz has also developed a protocol for the collection, storage, and initial processing of nasopharyngeal tissue samples from study participants in Ghana.
