Bio

Dr. Megan Acho graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in English Literature. She moved to New York City to study medicine at the New York University School of Medicine and graduated in 2013. Dr. Acho remained in New York at the Mount Sinai Hospital for her Internal Medicine residency, where she also served as a Chief Resident. She completed her fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh in 2020 as part of the Medical Education Track. During her PACCM fellowship, she worked under the mentorship of Dr. Burton Lee studying mechanical ventilation and the ways in which complex concepts are taught to novice learners. Her primary clinical interests include invasive and non-invasive ventilation. In her spare time, Dr. Acho enjoys baking, traveling, and exploring new cities with her husband and two pugs.

Research Interests

Dr. Acho previously studied the impact of pre-Intensive Care Unit location on wait time for ICU admission, as well as on patients’ ultimate outcomes. Her current research interests include the role of simulation in teaching mechanical ventilation, as well as the impact of “collective intelligence” versus individual intelligence in the context of mechanical ventilation.
