Dr. Rachel Givelber’s Research

Dr. Givelber’s academic focus is in clinical education at the medical student, resident and fellow level. She teaches critical appraisal of the medical literature, and techniques to apply research studies to the care of individual patients.

Obesity is the major risk factor for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, but demographic factors such as older age and male gender, anthropomorphic features including large tonsils or retrognathia, and comorbid medical conditions such as stroke or congestive heart failure also increase the prevalence of sleep-disordered breathing.
