Call for Catalytic Grant Applications

Award Information
The Department plans to support up to $500k per year in total funding for the Catalytic Grants for an initial period of two years. Future funding is dependent on the availability of funds and the success of the first two years of the program. Funds can be used for anything except the salary of PI (although exceptional circumstances may be considered), and awards can range from $10-50k per year, dependent on the PI’s needs and budget justification (salary support for non-faculty lab personnel is acceptable).

Due Date
Applications are due by 5pm on September 5, 2022. Notification of funding will occur by November 1 in the year of submission. The completed application should be sent as a single PDF to Ms. Natalie Schweninger (schweningern@upmc.edu).

Eligibility
Applications are accepted from active participants in the Department of Medicine K Awardee to R Advancement Training Program (KARAT) after a completed first year of K/CDA mentored training.

Review Process
Grants will be reviewed by the KARAT Leadership Council under direction of Dr. Oliver Eickelberg. Those applicants awarded KARAT Catalytic Grant support are expected to present on a Department-wide symposium after completion of their studies.

Please direct any inquiries to Ms. Natalie Schweninger (schweningern@upmc.edu).
