Bone Marrow Transplant Curriculum– meets weekly at the Hillman Cancer Center.

Research Seminar Series– weekly basic science seminars are presented at the School of Public Health. This is a great opportunity for the fellows to learn about research being conducted by members of the Division and by members of other departments within the University. Attendance is optional.

Meet the Mentors– provides an opportunity for faculty, ID fellows, and Internal Medicine residents to meet the ID division research mentors and get introduced to their labs and research interests. Each mentor will also be proposing potential research projects for ID fellows and IM residents with interest in ID.

Fellows’ Training-in-Progress (TiP) – occurs bi-annually. The new second-year fellows are expected to present their research/scholarly project proposals at the end of their first year then every six months thereafter. This activity is well attended by all members of the division and is a great opportunity for the fellows to listen to constructive criticism about their research.

Resident and Medical Students Lecture Series– The second- and third-year ID fellows develop and are responsible for the residents’ and medical students’ lecture series, in which they give a series of didactic lectures to the house staff and the third- and fourth-year medical students rotating on the ID consult services and in the HIV/AIDS clinic. This activity is a great opportunity for the fellows to do an in-depth review of ID topics and to polish their teaching skills.

Fellow’s Guest Speaker – Beginning in 2008, the division sponsored the “Excellence in Infectious Disease Education Award”. This award honors an individual who has contributed significantly to the field of Infectious Diseases, particularly to the training of fellows. The recipient is selected by the fellows.
