Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We are proud of UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh’s many efforts to support diversity, equity and inclusion, and we are in full alignment with these goals at every level of our division, including and especially within our training programs.
Our objective is to recruit, train, engage, and retain geriatricians who will become leaders in all aspects of geriatric medicine, and who will reflect our diverse community. Through clinical excellence and innovation, research, and medical education, we draw from our diverse backgrounds and experiences to advance the provision of excellent healthcare to everyone in our region irrespective of race, ethnicity, sexual or gender orientation, or other identities. We seek to train geriatricians who are competent in assessing and addressing the range of social influences on health for older adults, including the experience of bias and discrimination of all kinds. We believe we can best treat our patients and be effective leaders in our health system when we embody the diversity of the community we serve.
See the websites linked below for additional information about our programs to recruit, support and engage all members of our community, including welcome and connection events for candidates traditionally underrepresented in medicine. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
