Four-week outpatient experience with Obesity Medicine faculty
A four-week outpatient experience with Obesity Medicine faculty designed for residents or physicians interested in incorporating obesity medicine into their career and pursuing board certification through the CME track. Trainees rotate with expert faculty across primary care (Internal Medicine and Family Medicine), endocrinology, and gastroenterology, typically spending up to four half-day sessions in each specialty. The remaining time is devoted to online CME modules and reading key literature to prepare for board certification.
Obesity Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Trainees and physicians enrolled in the program have access to both online and live CME opportunities, including:
- Free and paid online CME from non-UPMC sources
- UPMC-generated CME content and videos
- Upcoming live CME events at UPMC and select external offerings

To meet ABOM eligibility requirements, trainees must complete 30 hours of CME, which can be obtained through major national meetings such as:
