Rachel Marini, PharmD, is the recipient of a Medical Mycology Society of the America (MMSA) Research Award from the American Society of Microbiology for her study of isavuconazole pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD), and her clinical research on the epidemiology of fungal infections in solid organ transplant recipients.

Rachel joined our Antibiotic Management Program in 2016 following her American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Accredited Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program at UPMC. She oversees the Solid Organ Transplant isavuconazole prophylaxis program, assuring 100% adherence to our protocol, and evaluating its efficacy in antifungal prophylaxis. No further cases of nosocomial mucormycosis were seen after initiation of the program. Her clinical and PK research on isavuconazole will make a valuable addition to the fungal literature.
