Randall E. Brand, MD received the National Pancreas Foundation’s highest community honor, the NPF Courage Award, in recognition of his outstanding patient care and research leadership in Pittsburgh and throughout the world.  NPF’s “Paint the Town Purple Courage for the Cure Gala” was held in September 2019 at the Fairmont Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA.  Dr. Brand is a professor of medicine with the Division, where he serves as the academic lead for Division efforts at UPMC Shadyside and the director for the system’s GI Malignancy Early Detection, Diagnosis & Prevention Program.  In addition to Dr. Brand, the Division’s Pathology colleague, Aatur Singhi, MD, PhD received NPF’s Nobility in Science Award, and Beth Dudley, MS, MPH, CGD, Helen Carleton, RN, and Gail Smoulder, RN, CGRN received Compassionate Care Awards from NPF.  Joy Jenko Merusi, MA received NPF’s Professional Excellence Award.
