Jaideep Behari, MD, PhD has received a multi-PI grant to study Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver DiseaSE (NAFLD) in collaboration with Alex Soto-Gutierrez, MD, PhD from Pathology and Lans Taylor, PhD from Computational and Systems Biology. These investigators will study “A Vascularized Patient-derived iPSC Liver Acinus Microphysiology System as an Innovative Precision Medicine Platform for Optimizing Clinical Trail Design for Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease”. This support will enable the creation of mini-human livers from UPMC patients currently in clinical trials for Non-Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis (NASH). NASH medications will be evaluated based on genotypes, and the overall study goal will be to design better clinical trials for future patients.
