Bernard (Beej) Macatangay, MD, has received a Faculty Award from the University of Pittsburgh for the 2019 Honors Convocation. The University’s Honors Convocation recognizes the significant achievements of Pitt people who are pursuing academic, scholarly, and professional excellence in their fields.

Beej holds an Assistant Professor of Medicine rank in our Division and works on the General Infectious Diseases service and PACT. His
research interests primarily focus on investigation of HIV immunoregulation and immunopathogenesis of HIV and strategies to enhance immune control of HIV infection.

Beej has a strong record of achievement as a clinical translational investigator, dedicated clinician and teacher. His accomplishments have enhanced the research, educational and clinical care missions of the Infectious Diseases Division, the Department of Medicine and the School of Medicine.
