Internal Medicine Residency Program

The Division invests tremendous effort and resources into the education of its residents. The Internal Medicine Residency Training Program is recognized for maintaining a focus on core knowledge while prioritizing individualized training within the various tracks and programs that the division offers, including the geriatrics, global health and under served populations, generalist, women’s health, international scholars, and clinical scientist tracks, as well as the ABIM Research Pathway. Division faculty continue to focus on a number of priorities to maintain the excellence of the training program. These focal points include:

  • continuous healing relationships in all healthcare settings
  • mastery of effective communication
  • knowledge and implementation of evidence-based medicine
  • principles of patient safety and quality improvement
  • optimizing chronic disease management and preventative care
  • evidence-based evaluation and assessment methods

While the Internal Medicine Residency Program is at the centerpiece of the Division’s efforts, it also supports three other outstanding residency programs – the Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program, Preliminary Program, and Transitional Program.
